How to Make a Baseball Highlight Reel
By NextPlay · Updated
A baseball highlight should make the athlete’s action easy to evaluate: the swing and contact, the pitch and delivery, or the pickup and throw. Clear sequences give a viewer more information than isolated endings.
1. Capture the setup and the result
For a batting clip, begin before the pitch arrives and keep recording through contact and the visible outcome. When filming defense, show the approach to the ball, the fielding action and the throw when possible.
For a pitcher, keep the delivery visible from a permitted spectator position. Avoid cropping out the athlete’s body or placing an obstruction across the action. Do not add a velocity claim unless you have a verified measurement.
2. Select baseball and upload your clips
Upload local files recorded around your athlete using My athlete. You can start with a few clear plays from one game and add more footage as the season progresses.
If you have a full team recording, choose Coach Film and remove other players’ plays after reviewing the cut. NextPlay does not automatically isolate one athlete from a team recording.
3. Watch the cut before sending it
Check whether the viewer can understand each play without extra explanation. Keep enough time before and after contact, catches and throws to show what happened.
Use the landscape Recruiting Highlight for that presentation, and follow the recipient’s requested format. A short introduction video can sit alongside longer game sequences when someone wants more context.
4. Download or share
Use the reel’s share controls for a link or an MP4 download. Test the link while signed out and watch the downloaded file if you plan to send it as an attachment or upload it elsewhere.
Send your own introduction with accurate player and team details. Keep the original footage so you can provide additional at-bats, innings or defensive sequences if requested.
