Using NextPlay with Hudl and Veo
By NextPlay · Updated
Use a downloaded video file for Hudl footage, or import recordings from a public Veo club library link. NextPlay makes highlights and play-by-play cuts from that footage; you handle the file transfer back to Hudl.
1. Get the video file from Hudl
Download the video file from Hudl: open the video, use the three-dot menu and choose Download Video, then upload it to NextPlay. If downloading is unavailable, ask the coach or team admin for the file.
NextPlay cannot import a Hudl video by its page address. There is no direct connection between the two products, and you do not enter Hudl credentials in NextPlay.
2. Import a public Veo club recording
In NextPlay, use the Veo import to import recordings from a public Veo club library link. Choose the recording you want to work with from that library.
The Veo import is for that named provider, not arbitrary video-page addresses. If the recording is not available in a public club library, use a downloaded video file you have permission to upload.
3. Review your highlight or team cut
Choose a Highlight for a vertical reel, or a Recruiting Highlight for a landscape, muted MP4 and share link that you send to coaches. For team review, choose Coach Film or Game Tape and step through the plays.
Game Tape includes every detected play in order, nothing left out. A full game takes over an hour to analyse; the cut is complete, never trimmed to a runtime.
4. Take separate clips back to Hudl
Download NextPlay's clip package, which contains one MP4 per clip. Extract the ZIP, then upload the MP4 files with Hudl's own uploader. NextPlay does not transfer or publish the files to Hudl for you.
If you cannot upload in Hudl, ask your coach or team admin to enable uploading under Team → Settings → Access. After Hudl finishes uploading, delete the downloaded ZIP and extracted MP4 copies from your computer to reclaim space; keep your original recording.
5. Check the camera and plan
Fixed wide-angle and 4K cameras are supported. NextPlay finds the region of the field where the game is being played and cuts plays from it at full resolution.
Creating an account is free; adding film needs a plan. Plans start at $9.99/month, with no watermark. Cancel anytime.
