How to Cut Full Game Film into Plays for Your Team
By NextPlay · Updated
Upload your game recording to NextPlay, choose Coach Film or Game Tape, and review every detected play in order. The cut is complete, never trimmed to a runtime.
1. Upload the game recording
Upload the video file from your phone or camera, or import recordings from a public Veo club library link. Choose the sport and check that the file contains the game you want to review.
Keep the web tab open while the file uploads. After the upload finishes, analysis continues on the server. A full game takes over an hour to analyse.
2. Choose Coach Film or Game Tape
Choose Game Tape for every detected play of a game, in order, nothing left out. Full game film is analysed play by play; the cut is complete, never trimmed to a runtime.
Coach Film also starts with a complete play-by-play cut for review. Use it when you want to review the team recording and remove plays to make a more focused selection yourself.
3. Review the reel clip by clip
Open the reel and step through it clip by clip. Check that each play includes its setup and result, and compare with the original recording if something seems missing.
Remove what is not a play, such as a stoppage the detector included. Keep the real plays for team review instead of removing them to make the game fit a shorter video.
4. Use fixed wide-angle camera footage
Fixed wide-angle, sideline and 4K recordings are supported, including Veo-style and corner-flag cameras. NextPlay finds the region of the field where the game is being played and cuts plays from it at full resolution.
Keep the full action visible and use a steady angle. A clearer source helps you review the result; an obstructed or out-of-frame play still needs your attention.
5. Download the team cut
Download the finished MP4 for one continuous video, or download the clip package for one MP4 per clip. Watch the result before sharing it with the team.
Creating an account is free; adding film needs a plan. Plans start at $9.99/month, with no watermark. Cancel anytime.
