How to Make a Volleyball Recruiting Highlight Video

By NextPlay · Updated

A volleyball recruiting video should make the athlete's position, movement and result easy to evaluate. Stable match footage and clearly grouped, relevant plays matter more than elaborate effects.

1. Record a useful court view

Keep the net, ball and enough of the court visible to understand spacing and movement. An elevated end-line or corner view can show more of the play when the venue allows it; use a steady horizontal recording from a permitted spectator area.

Start before contact and keep recording through the result. A clip that begins at the swing or ends before the point resolves can hide the approach, read or transition.

2. Choose clips for the athlete's role

Select match actions that fit the athlete's position: attacks, blocks and transition for hitters; location and decision-making for setters; passing, defense and out-of-system work for liberos and defensive specialists. Show range without padding the reel with repeats.

Follow the receiving program's instructions and ask the athlete's coach which examples are most relevant. NextPlay creates the video but does not evaluate recruiting fit or contact programs for you.

3. Identify the athlete clearly

Mark the athlete before a wide team-film clip with a circle, arrow or spotlight when the viewer may not know who to watch. Preview every mark so it appears before the action and does not cover the ball or another player.

NextPlay does not identify one player throughout a match from a jersey number. Review the detected plays and remove the ones that do not belong to the athlete.

4. Export a simple coach-ready version

Choose Recruiting Highlight for a landscape, muted MP4 and share link. Put clear, relevant plays early, keep accurate athlete and graduation details in your message, and avoid relying on music or effects to explain the footage.

Test the link while signed out before sending it. Keep the original match or a complete Game Tape available when a coach asks for more context.

Questions

What clips belong in a volleyball recruiting video?

Use clear match clips relevant to the athlete's position and show enough of each play to understand the movement and result. Follow the receiving program's instructions.

Should volleyball recruiting film be vertical or horizontal?

Use the format requested by the recipient. NextPlay's Recruiting Highlight is landscape so the court context remains visible.

Should I add music?

The Recruiting Highlight is muted by default. Clear game evidence and easy player identification matter more than a soundtrack.

Can I include a full match?

Keep the full match or a complete Game Tape available separately when a coach asks for longer context.
